"Selections from students of the 2013 Cross Plains Photography Class"
This year the Cross Plains Recreation Department held two
photography classes, beginning and advanced levels, for
middle-school-aged children. Both level classes were
taught by local photographers, Tonya Tubbs and Jane
Hoffman. The basics of photography and the use of the
students' cameras were covered and practices. The class
took many field trips to local nature hot spots to get
hands-on practice on the techniques that were taught.
Rosemary Garfoot Public Library, True Value Hardware Store, Ice Age Trail, American Legion Park, and the Black Earth Creek with its many changes were explored as subjects.
It was a real treat for the instructors to see what each of the students found “amazing” in the everyday world. Many times the students pointed out stunningly beautiful surroundings the the instructors had not seen. Each student chose one of their favorite photographs to put on display for the public.
Please enjoy this display and see the world around us through a child's eye.
