Acrylics and Mixed Media work
by Bala Thiagarajanby
Born and brought up in Chennai, India, I have a passion for colors and patterns that are inspired by the Indian culture. I love to explore texture in different mediums. Though most of my recent work has been with acrylics on canvas and wood, I began painting mostly on glass and unglazed earthenware about 15 years ago. I just started showing my work in 2012 in Madison, WI. I have been mostly self-taught with the exception of an acrylics workshop and freebie lessons from artist friends. My recent works of henna-inspired designs and kolams are my attempt to capture the ephemeral nature of these everyday art forms onto more enduring surfaces. I love to experiment with the arts & crafts I create, and have recently started playing with water colors and oil paints.
Saturday, June 16, 2012. 6 - 8 pm.
Come meet Bela and enjoy coffee, wine and delicious nibbles as you view and discuss her art.
